Descansem Em Paz.

Morreu ontem Harry Browne , candidato de 1996 e 2000 pelo Libertarian Party nos EUA.
Não vou fingir que eu conhecia muito sobre ele a não ser alguns escritos aleatórios encontrados na internet, mas eu encontrei no blog do Antiwar.com um texto que publicado por ele em 12 de Setembro de 2001, 3 dias depois dos ataques, perguntando "When will we learn that we can't allow our politicians to bully the world without someone bullying back eventually?"
No mesmo texto ele faz a brilhante observação:
"How many times on Tuesday did we hear someone describe the terrorist attacks as "cowardly acts"? But as misguided and despicable as they were, they were anything but cowardly. The people who committed them knowingly gave their lives for whatever stupid beliefs they held.

But what about the American presidents who order bombings of innocent people – while the presidents remain completely insulated from any danger? What would you call their acts?"

Harry Browne tem um livro chamado "How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World" que eu vou procurar em algum canto da internet para ler, pois ele pareceu realmente ser o tipo de pessoa que simplesmente acordou para o fato que liberdade existe e que lutar por ela vale a pena.

E ainda no mesmo tópico, hoje seria o 80º aniversário do irredutivel Murray N. Rothbard, sendo provavelmente o pensador mais importante do libertarianismo, Rothbard dizia o quão importante era para os liberais clássicos se afastarem dos conservadores, uma lição que infelizmente custamos a aprender e que ainda hoje faz tantos ditos "liberais" apoiarem restrições a liberdade da mesma forma que ditos "anarquistas" apóiam maior intervenção governamental. Ele escreveu em seu livro "Left and Right: The Prospects For Liberty"

"Libertarians of the present day are accustomed to think of socialism as the polar opposite of the libertarian creed. But this is a grave mistake, responsible for a severe ideological disorientation of libertarians in the present world. [Historically] conservatism was the polar opposite of liberty; and socialism, while to the 'left' of conservatism, was essentially a confused, middle-of-the-road movement. ... Socialism, like [classical] liberalism and against conservatism, accepted the industrial system and the liberal goals of freedom, reason, mobility, progress, higher living standards for the masses, and an end to theocracy and war; but it tried to achieve these ends by the use of incompatible, conservative means: statism, central planning, communitarianism, etc."

Rothbard dizia que se houvesse um botão capaz de fazer desaparecer todo governo, ele quebraria o dedo de tanto aperta-lo...

"Strands and remnants of libertarian doctrines are, indeed, all around us, in large parts of our glorious past and in values and ideas in the confused present. But only libertarianism takes these strands and remnants and integrates them into a mighty, logical, and consistent system. ... Liberty cannot succeed without [a] systematic theory ... We now have that systematic
theory; we come, fully armed with our knowledge .... All other theories and systems have clearly failed: socialism is in retreat everywhere, and notably in Eastern Europe; liberalism has bogged down in a host of insoluble problems; conservatism has nothing to offer but sterile defense of the status quo. ... libertarians now propose to fulfill the American dream and the world dream of liberty and prosperity for all mankind."

E na maior parte da sua vida, Rothbard se dedicou a liberdade, ao livre mercado, a luta contra o status quo e contra o conservadorismo. Engraçado entretanto como Harry Browne apoiou Reagan e Rothbard apoiou Pat Buchanan, mostrando que os laços com o conservadorismo podem ser dificeis de ser quebrados... mase eles devem ser, conservadores são pragas históricas, parasitas ideológicos que roubam e contaminam doutrinas alheias com o objetivo de sempre manter seus poderes de exploração.
A luta pela liberdade continua, seja contra os socialistas ou contra os conservadores, no caso do Brasil, muitas vezes ambos são os mesmos, mas lutando também contra nós mesmos, nossas prisões, buscando sempre nossa liberdade em um mundo que não é livre.
